Carol Conner Steel Rose Metal Art

Cv/bio

I am a self-taught artist.  I have been creating works of art for over 20 years, working with many mediums such as paint and fabric.  My love for creating with metal began in 1997.  Since then I've been welding one-of-a-kind freeform sculptures and turning many of them into functional art for the home.  I do all the pounding, bending, grinding, heating, cutting, and welding in my workshop in Portland, Oregon.

The style can be described as contemporary elegant freeform sculpture.  I love the process of starting with a piece of steel and playing with it and scupting it into soft abstract forms.  Using this same freeform style, I also create functional art such as furniture, fireplace screens, candleholders, wine sculptures, mirrors and garden art.  I sell my work at wineries and galleries in all parts of the country, as well as art shows in the Pacific Northwest.

I love to create and play.   The bottom line is:  When my mind gets out of the way, everything is more fun.  Simple as that.  Freeform creating takes me into the "NOW" (the best place to BE).
